We got a lot of mail, actual hand-written letters that were alternately fascinating, touching, heartbreaking, disturbing. This chapter = reader letters, illustrated. Art by Emanuele Simonelli.

Readers would typically write to the fake porn star "publisher" of the magazine, or to one of the girls they'd seen in it.

I break mail down into seven categories, including positive/upbeat (often often pretty sweet letters), poetic, letters from prison, letters from guys who want to get into porn (who are sometimes also in prison), odd, deeply bizarre, and desperate.

To our right = a positive/upbeat letter from the beginning of the chapter. These kinds of letters were often pretty sweet.
